Answer:
Answer: The DPMonitor shows
you the performance characteristics on any or all the systems
in your network, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Extremely detailed
Trend Analysis!

Do you use Oracle? We monitor that too!
Question:
How does the DPMonitor work?
Answer: DelTek Performance
Agents are installed on servers or systems where
performance data analysis or monitoring is desired. These
DPMonitor Performance Agents communicate over the
network to the DPMonitor Performance Explorer,
where the data manipulation is performed. The statistical data
is then presented in easy to understand terms, in full color,
and auto-scaling graphs. Various methodologies
exist to support remote locations, or firewall secured sites.

your particular environment and DPMonitors capabilities!
Question:
Over what time period can I see my Server/System Performance?
Answer: For any time period in
which a DPMonitor Performance Agent is running
you can see any hour, any day, or any number of days. The Performance
Graphs
are time frame selectable by you, so you can view any time frame
you wish.
Question:
How can looking at a month's worth of Performance Graphs help
me understand overall performance?
Answer: In any production system
or server, the performance characteristics can change from hour
to hour, day to day or even month by month. The
DPMonitor allows the user to
aggregate any number of days into a 24-hour period. On a monthly
basis you can
view the system performance profile for any day(s) of the week
to prepare for
future requirements.
How
does this benefit me? Resource Capacity Planning and
Allocation, Trend Analysis, bottleneck tracking, problem isolation,
application/platform profiling:
Knowing exactly what your system resources are doing at every
point in time, without question!
Question:
What Operating Systems & Databases will the DPMonitor
Performance Agents support?
Answer: DPMonitor Performance
Agents currently runs on AIX (4.3.3 and 5.1), Solaris (2.6, 2.7, 2.8)
and
Windows (NT 4.0, 2000, XP). The DPMonitor
also has an Oracle database Agent. A single
DPMonitor platform performance agent collects both OS
and Oracle data
[Note: Other DelTek Performance Agents
forthcoming. If you have other platforms or database/applications
requests or requirements for DPMonitor Performance
Agents please contact corporate@deltek.us
for more information.]
Question: Can the DPMonitor
Performance Explorer run on the same system as the DPMonitor
Performance Agent?
Answer: Yes, currently on a Windows
(NT 4.0, 2000, XP) system.
Question:
What is different about DelTek Performance Monitoring?
Answer: It's all about the DPMonitor
Performance Agents: Non-intrusive, amazingly low overhead,
low level operating system calls, and verified accurate statistics
gathering methodologies, writing to a very compact, proprietary
data storage format. Agents store their data locally to ensure
no data loss, even if communications are lost. Agent data
can be collected/replicated at the DPMonitor Performance
Explorer, and the entire
DPMonitor database has its own utilities
for managing its backing up, restoring,
synchronizing and purging! PLUS: Export data directly
from any graph into a
format suitable for importing into any spreadsheet application!
Question:
How can I evaluate the DelTek Performance Monitor
in my environment?
Answer: Download the 10-day Trial
Version. Go to www.deltek.us
and
click on Products. You will need to fill out some information,
specify the platform Agent to be monitored and get an Evaluation
License from deltek.us. The 10-day Trial Version
will allow you to monitor the aspects of either a Windows
(NT 4.0 / 2000 / XP) platform Agent, or a Solaris 2.6,
2.7 or 2.8 platform Agent, or an AIX 4.3.3 /
5.1 platform Agent, continuously, over time,
and display the data on a Windows (NT 4.0 / 2000 / XP) DPMonitor
Performance Explorer.
Question:
How is the 10 day Trial Version different than the Standard
Product?
Answer: Features are identical
to the Standard Version but limited in that the Trial
Version permits up to 10 days of data collection and display
of the operating
system statistics.
Question:
What other functionality does the DPMonitor provide?
Answer: The connection between
the Performance Agents and the Performance
Explorer is a low overhead, auto-discovery process, which also
serves as a highly
reliable "Host Uptime Availability" application.
If a DelTek Performance Agent
system goes off-line for whatever reason, the DelTek
Performance Explorer Icon for that system and its
cluster goes to a yellow color, then to a red color to indicate
the server is non-communicative. This feature alone is
highly desirable in many Enterprise or ASP, ISP, MSP Operations
Centers and Help Desks!
Question:
Does the DPMonitor support multiprocessor systems?
Answer: Yes the DPMonitor
supports multiprocessor environments. Low-level graphs will
even monitor these multiple processors to show if/when they
come off-line/online!
Question: If I decide to purchase the
DPMonitor, will the data collected from the 10
day Trial Version Performance Agents carry over to the purchased,
licensed product?
Answer: Yes all data collected
during Evaluation can be carried over to the
purchased product.
